About 30 years ago I was in Boulder CO with a group of male friends. We were out bar hopping and ended in a late night Deli. It was full of men.

In walk two men and a woman and it's obvious that one of the men and the women were in a dirty fight. It got loud. At one point, as if on cue every, guy in the place stood up. The guy nearest the loud man said, "You need to leave now. Alone." He did.

40 guys were willing risk their personal safety for a stranger. I was one of them. I didn't think twice.

Nowadays this would be called toxic masculinity. Nowadays I wouldn't stand to protect a woman, ever.

I'm not entirely convinced that things are better. I wouldn't say that I am losing my shit, just pointing out facts.
